Good Keywords for Search Engine

by: Jonathan Haryanto
The internet is a veritable treasure trove of information. But most people will never lay their eyes on the billions of pages of valuable information and data, because they fail to appreciate the importance of key words. The single most important aspect of any type of research are keywords. Without the right keywords, your search for the right information will be impacted negatively. Make sure you don't and you will come closer to unlocking the full power of the net.
When you type your keywords into the search box, the search engine will browse its billions of indexed pages. The websites which show up will be based directly on the key words entered, among other factors. Think about this fact: companies spend large amounts of money to ensure that their websites come up when people search for certain terms. Showing up on the first page of the results of a search can mean the difference between success and failure of a website.

Some of the factors which go into search engine rankings are as follows: keywords, links, relevant content, and click through rate. The keywords used on a website will help determine how it is indexed.

Links are important because it shows that others find the information you have to be valuable. The search engines will do a link analysis to see how many links you have as well to judge how valuable they are.

It is very easy to get many links to your website but it can sometimes be hard to get quality links. You want to make sure that you have a great deal of relevant content which is updated consistently. Search engines will also look at click through rate. This means that your website visitors visit your website and visit more than one page. It can help show that your site is perceived to be of high quality or to contain useful content by your visitors. These are only a few of the criteria but are of the more important variety.

Tools have been developed that can be used to find good keywords for searching purposes or to help businesses researching for keywords with the aim of starting online advertising campaigns. There are currently two well known and widely used of these tools, but more are being developed all the time and considering a few are even freely available, there is no reason why they should not be used. To further understand the importance of key words let's talk a little about how search engines actually work.

Some of these tools are even freely available. Although different, they essentially carry out the same functions. After entering search terms, these tools will produce results of different keyword combinations along with results produced from Overture. A quick search using such terms as "keyword tools" or "free keyword tools" will help you find them.

The results returned by any search engine are based upon the websites that have been indexed by it. To index a site, a search engine has a spider which visits the website. The spider reads through what is on the website and then follows the links on the site to reach the other web pages. This is the first step.

The second step is for the page that has been spidered to be indexed. This does not always happen immediately, but may take some time. Finally, the search engine has a software program which will rank the different websites on different keywords. Each search engine has a different software program because each engine uses a different formula to calculate how important a website is. There are different factors which are important to how highly a website will rank.
